My Morning + Night Skincare Routine for Glowy, Hydrated Skin

A consistent skincare routine doesn't have to be complicated. My focus is always hydration, skin barrier support, anti-aging ingredients, and products that help my skin look healthy, smooth, and naturally glowy.

What makes this routine different is that it has been built through years of trial and error with extremely sensitive skin. I've had countless skincare products—especially sunscreens and anti-aging treatments—cause severe inflammatory reactions, redness, burning, and irritation. In some cases, the reactions were so significant that I required prescription steroids to calm my skin down.

Because of that, I'm incredibly selective about what I use and recommend. Every product featured in this routine has been personally tested on my sensitive, reactive skin and has earned a permanent place in my skincare cabinet. If your skin tends to react to products, there's a good chance you'll find some gems here.

Morning Skincare Routine

Step 1: Gentle Face Wash
Start with a gentle, non-stripping cleanser to refresh the skin without drying it out. I prefer an affordable face wash that leaves my skin clean but still soft.

Step 2: Vitamin C Serum
Apply a vitamin C serum to help brighten the skin, support an even-looking tone, and add antioxidant protection during the day. Ever since the SkinCeuticals (holy grail of vit c serums) patent ran out I’ve been trying to test other options. Currently using Timeless, which has a very similar formula. Next I plan to try DRMTLGY. I’ll report back on my thoughts.

Note: I sometimes have weird reactions to vitamin c serum when in the sun, so highly recommend Vanicream’s Vit C Serum. It’s specifically designed for sensitive skin.

Step 3: The Ordinary Multi-Peptide + HA Serum
This is an affordable hydration and peptide step that helps plump the skin and prep it for the rest of the routine.

Step 4: SkinMedica TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream
Apply this cream as moisurizor to support smoother, healthier-looking skin and add a more luxury treatment step into the morning routine.

Step 5: Tinted Moisturizer with SPF
Finish with a tinted SPF moisturizer. My favorites are EltaMD or Alastin HydraTint because they give light coverage, hydration, and daily sun protection in one step.

Night Skincare Routine

Step 1: Cleanse Your Skin
Wash your face thoroughly to remove sunscreen, makeup, sweat, and buildup from the day.

Step 2: Red Light Therapy
After cleansing, use red light therapy on clean, dry skin before applying skincare. This helps the light reach the skin without product interference.

Step 3: SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum
Apply TNS Advanced+ Serum immediately after red light therapy. This growth factor and peptide-rich serum is designed to support skin rejuvenation, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and help skin look firmer and more youthful over time. Full disclosure: this is by far the most expensive product in my routine, but it's also the one I feel is the most worth the investment. If I had to splurge on just one skincare product, this would be it.

Step 5: SkinMedica HA5
Apply HA to help draw moisture into the skin and give that plump, dewy look.  I've done some research and this HA5 serum enhances the TNS Advanced Serum, so highly recommend.

Step 6: Neocutis Lumière Eye Cream
After HA, gently apply Neocutis Lumière around the under-eye area. This is one of my favorite eye creams for a smoother, more hydrated, refreshed-looking under-eye.

Step 7: SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream
Finish with SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream to lock everything in and support soft, nourished, hydrated skin overnight. This cream is super moisturizing and has all the vitamins you need for bight and supple skin. Truly obsessed with this stuff!

Why I Love This Routine

This routine gives me the best balance of affordable skincare staples and high-performance treatment products. The morning routine keeps things simple, brightening, and SPF-focused, while the night routine is all about repair, hydration, and skin barrier support.

If your skin feels dull, dry, sensitive, or like it needs a reset, this combination of gentle cleansing, vitamin C, peptides, hyaluronic acid, red light therapy, and rich moisturizer is a great place to start.

Other Noteworthy Products I Keep in Rotation

No skincare routine is completely static, and these are the products I reach for regularly depending on what my skin needs that day. Some help with hydration, some help with texture and breakouts, and others are simply affordable staples that have earned a permanent spot in my skincare cabinet.

The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane

When my skin is feeling strong and not overly sensitive, I'll cycle in this retinol a few nights per week. It's one of the best affordable retinol products I've found and a great option if you're looking to improve skin texture, support collagen production, and minimize the appearance of fine lines without spending a fortune.

Medicube Zero Pore Toner Pads

These toner pads are a staple in my morning routine. On days when my skin isn't feeling particularly oily or dirty, I'll often use these instead of washing my face. They provide gentle exfoliation, help smooth skin texture, and leave my skin feeling refreshed without stripping it.

COSRX Pink Peptide Collagen Hydrogel Eye Patches

If I've had a rough night of sleep, have a big meeting, or simply want to look a little more awake, these are my secret weapon. They instantly make my under-eye area look more hydrated, refreshed, and depuffed. They're one of my favorite quick fixes before photos, events, or travel days.

Medicube Zero Pore Cleansing Oil

Whenever I'm wearing a full face of makeup, tinted SPF, or multiple layers of skincare, I start with this cleansing oil before using my regular cleanser. Double cleansing has made a huge difference in helping my skin feel truly clean without feeling dry or tight afterward.

Mighty Patch Original Pimple Patches

Hormonal breakouts happen to all of us. These hydrocolloid patches are one of the easiest ways I've found to reduce the temptation to pick at blemishes while helping them heal faster. I always keep a box on hand.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment

One of the cheapest products in my routine and one of the most effective. I apply Aquaphor to my lips every morning and every night. It keeps them hydrated, prevents chapping, and honestly outperforms many expensive lip treatments I've tried over the years.

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash & Brow Serum

This is one of my favorite beauty finds. I use it morning and night on my lashes and occasionally on my brows. It's incredibly affordable compared to many lash serums on the market, and I've been genuinely impressed with the results. Longer-looking lashes, fuller brows, and no crazy price tag? That's a win in my book.

My Philosophy on Skincare

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that you don't need a 20-step routine to have great skin. Invest where it matters, save where you can, and focus on consistency over perfection. Some of my favorite products are luxury splurges, while others cost less than a Starbucks order. The goal isn't to use the most expensive products—it's to find what works for your skin and stick with it.
